I'm going on a mini fabric design tour!
Back in early December, I did a Q&A presentation at my wonderful local quilt shop, High Sierra Quilters, on how I became a fabric designer for Riley Blake Designs, my pattern making process, where I get inspiration, et cetera. I emailed Debbie (the shop owner) way back in October, just to let her know that I’m a local designer with a fabric collection out, who has some local friends and family who want to buy it, and to my surprise and delight, she asked me if I’d be interested in doing a little presentation at the shop! (Actual—paraphrased—quote from Debbie: “Well really, if you think about it, fabric designers are like the rock stars of the quilting world.” This delights me to no end, haha.)
An excuse to freely talk about something I could talk about for ages on my own, AND have a happy audience while I’m at it? YES PLEASE. Sign me up! 😆
It was such a lovely experience! Everyone was so kind and welcoming (and curious!), and we had a fun little raffle where Debbie and I gave away some fabric, notions, and patterns. 🧵📍🪡 It was so lovely, in fact, that I’m going to be doing a mini design tour at four more fabric shops near me, throughout the year, to promote both Harmony and my second fabric collection coming out in September! 🥳 Check out the storyboard for my upcoming collection here!
Design Tour Dates:
In Stitches (Dixon, CA) - Sat. February 19th
Swifty Stitches (Carmichael, CA)- Sat. March 19th
Sew Katie Jean (Lincoln, CA) - Saturday May 28th
Runs With Scissors (Citrus Heights, CA) - TBA, Fall 2022
Riley Blake’s NorCal sales rep, Kim Huckabay, stopped by for the presentation and we got to chatting afterwards, which lead to her going above and beyond to help me organize this little tour. I’m so grateful to her and all of the wonderful, kind people at Riley Blake Designs!
I posted some video snippets from the Q&A sesh at High Sierra Quilters on my Instagram, if you want to see video of me thriving under the attention and talking about this job that I love.👈👈😎😆😊
