Staff Pick and Closed Captions!

Hi, everyone!

I hope you're all having a good hump day!

I just wanted to share with you how thrilled I am that my class, Character Design Crash Course: Dynamic Design in Four Steps, was chosen as a Staff Pick! "Staff Picks represent the highest quality and most engaging classes on the platform. Less than one percent of classes are selected as Staff Picks, so we think yours is truly special."

This is so encouraging for me, as I often struggle with imposter syndrome, wondering if I really have the expertise to share what I know. This has really helped validate my decision to start teaching, and it's in large part thanks to all of you! I so, so appreciate you being here and learning from me, even though I'm not a big name in the art world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. <3

What makes this even more exciting is that, because it's a Staff Pick, it now has closed captions! Skillshare’s eventual goal is to caption all classes in all platforms, but in their initial launch, they added English-language captions to Skillshare Originals and Staff Picks. This has been something I’ve hoped would be implemented since I started publishing classes. It’s always bummed me out that deaf and hard of hearing students couldn’t learn from me, especially since the things I teach are all visual mediums.

I believe Skillshare to be an invaluable source of learning (I use it to learn more than I use it to teach), and I’m so, so happy that this feature opens the platform up to so many more people. I’m honored and grateful to Skillshare for including one of my classes in the initial launch. :')

As for future plans, I have a bunch more crash courses in mind, but I'm taking a break from them this month to post a class on one of my favorite watercolor techniques: progressive watercoloring. It will be short and sweet and Halloween themed! Hope to see you there!
